Dear members,

I have recently read some papers concerning morphology description of these species. And I ask myself if they are really different species.

Aleksey,

Should P. fernandezii be included too? I have trouble distinguishing all 3.

According to description that was done by Linda Escobar P. fernandezii has white flowers ca. 6cm diam. and leaves not more 9,4 cm long.
To my mind there are many erroneous photos in internet that are actually P. capparidifolia (or P. venusta).

Many thanks Christian!
These are first slides giving clear idea of P. capparidifolia flower structure.
So... I can draw a tentative conclusion P. capparidifolia and P. venusta are differ from each other.
First of all hypanthium of P. venusta is longer that in P. capparidifolia.
There are also another differences in colour of operculum, androgynophore and bracts.

How often is Passiflora capparidifolia found in Guyana?
When is the anthesis of P. capparidifolia in Guyana?

It was 18 Feb 1990. I found it twice in bloom during that trip. Not especially rare. I have seen more than 10 collections. Never in French Guiana where I have been a lot.

Thanks Christian!
Very interesting!
I have read it has quite big fruit. Does P. capparidifolia have any kind of food significance or use as natural resource?
Aleksey.
